Vessel The WEC is happy to introduce its teaching vessel the Moss Bluff. The Chambers-Liberty Counties Navigation District has partnered with the Waterborne Education Center by providing an educational vessel. This 45-foot retired Coast Guard buoy tender has been renovated as a floating laboratory with a heavy duty gang plank that provides easy loading and off loading of passengers. The vessel is equipped with a diverse array of biological, water quality and soil sampling equipment. Its also carries appropriate safety equipment to handle emergency situations. The vessel carries 25 participants.
The Moss Bluff has a laboratory below deck. The lab is equipped with a stereoscope and monitor for viewing aquatic organisms, plants and plankton.
