WEC and the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills

The WEC fills an important niche for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). This is accomplished through in-the-field teaching of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for 5th through 8th grade, as outlined in the Tables 1 and 2 below. Please visit www.tea.state.tx.us/teks for additional details on TEKS.

The WEC is certified by the State Board of Education to provide Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for educators. Five CPEs are offered during a one-day teacher training workshop. Ten CPEs are offered during a two-day teacher training workshop.  Additionally, the WEC is registered with the Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee to provide up to ten continuing education credits for a workshop on Ecosystems of Wetlands, Rivers and Estuaries.
